You’re excited about installing a blog, because you recently got a paid webhosting account. Congratulations! If you’re similar to some of my friends, your initial urge is to ask people for step-by-step instructions.
As in… via emails or messages.
Here’s a suggestion…
Use Google or even YouTube search.
Depending on the webhost you choose, there will be different ways to install WordPress. But relax, because it’s not that complicated.
At the start, you might feel overwhelmed. That’s normal, especially when we see lots of new things in a short period of time.
But try it. Go to YouTube and enter in the search box: how to install wordpress
Then as you watch the video, take down notes. Yes, pen and paper. You’ll discover that hand writing something helps you learn faster (than simply passively watching an online video).
You’re going to gain mental toughness, plus the discipline to keep at something until you succeed.
And before you know it, you’ll have installed WordPress in your own website! :-)
This will give you the confidence to experiment further. You’ll later discover that some of your questions require answers not easily found in YouTube nor in other places on the web.
When you’ve reached that point, get in touch with the people in your community. You’ll have earned their respect because they will see that you’ve done the initial research.
It will be evident that you’ve gone through the initiation of researching online, instead of just asking them questions.
You’ll have proof that you value their time, because you yourself have invested your time searching for solutions.
So be not afraid to put in the initial work. It will be worth it.
